The scary part is that most people don’t even know they have metabolic syndrome. At Pritikin, we identify patients at risk and give them the skills to reverse the process

Dr. Miceli brings a wealth of experience and a passion for patient-centered care to the Pritikin Longevity Center. As an endocrinologist, he specializes in helping patients tackle metabolic syndrome—a condition that affects millions but often goes undiagnosed.
“The scary part is that most people don’t even know they have metabolic syndrome,” says Dr. Miceli. “At Pritikin, we identify patients at risk and give them the skills to reverse the process.”
With a background in research at the University of Miami, Dr. Miceli mastered the art of explaining complex mechanisms of diseases like diabetes to both students and patients. His desire to make a meaningful impact led him to pursue medical school, where he dedicated himself to improving the lives of people living with diabetes and related conditions.
“I’ve seen people progress from pre-diabetes to diabetes, plagued by its symptoms,” Dr. Miceli explains. “The hope is that through education, we can help more people reverse the complications of metabolic syndrome and prevent serious cardiovascular events.”
At Pritikin, Dr. Miceli combines his expertise with the center’s comprehensive approach to health. He’s inspired by the program’s ability to deliver life-changing results, from improved blood sugar levels and lipid profiles to healthier weights.
“How we define and try to treat weight gain, obesity, and insulin resistance—it’s a logical fit to match a patient with this program,” he says. The evidence shows Pritikin can help patients progress, making meaningful improvements in their health. “The program offers a well-rounded experience, bringing together different disciplines that complement each other…the more you see the results it reinforces why you come and spend time here.”
For Dr. Miceli, Pritikin is more than a program; it’s a place where habits are transformed. “We’re creatures of habit, and we’re all guilty of not following an ideal meal plan or exercise program – we eat out because it’s easier,” he admits. At Pritikin, guests learn how to prepare easy, nutritious meals, manage stress, and exercise effectively. It’s an environment where success and results are possible.
Dr. Miceli takes pride in helping patients reinforce the positive aspects of their lifestyle and discover evidence-based strategies to achieve long-term health. At Pritikin, Dr. Miceli inspires change by guiding patients toward a healthier life. “It’s an honor to be here, to educate guests so they can take pearls of wisdom with them, and maintain their health at home.”
