This masterclass explores the intersection of biomechanics and the aging process. You'll gain a deeper understanding of how the human body functions mechanically and how these functions change as we age.
What you learn:Â
- Muscle Function Assessment: Evaluate your muscle strength, flexibility, and balance, gaining insights into your movement capacities and potential limitations.Â
- The Impact of Falls: Decipher the complex forces at play during falls, analyzing their impact on bones, joints, and overall function. Equip yourself with knowledge and strategies for fall prevention and mitigation.Â
- Corrective Exercises for Enhanced Mobility: Discover evidence-based exercise programs specifically designed to counteract age-related biomechanical changes. Improve muscle function, enhance joint stability, and optimize gait patterns for an active and independent lifestyle.Â
Who should attend:Â
- You're curious about how your body moves and changes with age.Â
- You want to proactively maintain your mobility and independence.Â
- You're eager to learn exercises specifically tailored to enhance your body's biomechanics.Â
In addition to this event, you can enjoy all of the daily activities that Pritikin offers. See what a typical day looks like.
Friday, January 3
4:30 - 5:30 pm: The Fundamentals of Biomechanics and Aging
The first part of this two part masterclass lays the groundwork by exploring the core principles of biomechanics and how they apply to the human body.
Saturday, January 4
4:30 - 5:30 pm: Optimizing Movement Based on Biomechanics
The second part of the class equips you with practical strategies to enhance physical function. It emphasizes using biomechanical knowledge to personalize exercise routines, considering individual needs and functional limitations.
