“At the Pritikin Longevity Center, we help our guests take the guesswork out of which foods will fuel their bodies in a healthy way that is actually sustainable and will stick.”
In addition to her undergraduate and master’s degree in Dietetics and Nutrition, Kara Burnstine has over 20 years of experience in the nutrition field ranging from clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, pharmaceuticals, and private practice. In her practice, Kara developed 21-Day Clean Eating Group Programs, coached private clients in weight loss, cardiovascular disease, gut health and autoimmune diseases, and utilized motivational interviewing and behavior modification strategies to facilitate habits that create permanent lifestyle changes.
“What I believe to be the key ingredient to success is having the proper tools to deal with obstacles that arise whether weight loss and/or improving clinical markers is your goal. Here at Pritikin, we educate in the classroom and then put this into practice in a real life setting. We navigate the grocery store together and go to restaurants and practice “Pritikinizing” our dinner experience.” That I believe is the secret sauce here at Pritikin.
Kara has extensive experience in public speaking on nutrition, wellness and diabetes at local businesses and community centers. She also speaks at local nutrition conferences, as the “educator to educators” so to speak.
Kara believes in giving back to her community. She is active in many charities and serves as a member of the Tocqueville Society at United Way and a mentor for Women of Tomorrow. Kara is also active in multiple wellness committees for local schools, PTAs, and the Miami Beach Jewish Community Center. She makes it a priority to cook good-tasting, healthy meals for her family and loves to do adventurous family vacations. During her free time, Kara loves to run, spin, hike and barre.
