Homemade Eggnog Recipe
This low fat & low sugar eggnog recipe is thick, creamy, rich, delicious, easy to make, not to mention uses healthier ingredients!
Homemade Eggnog Recipe
Materials
- 1 qt skim milk
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup brown sugar Swerve
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Instructions
- Bring milk to a light simmer
- Add Swerve, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg
- In a separate bowl, add egg yolks
- Very slowly, begin adding warm milk into egg yolks, whisking constantly
- Add at least half the pot of milk into the eggs, bringing up the temperature slowly (tempering)
- Now add warm egg/milk mixture slowly back into pot
- Do not bring to a boil or you may curdle the egg
- Allow to heat slightly to thicken
- Cool and serve for the next week
